Ranking Miko Uniform
The Shinto Shrine maiden uniform consists of a pair of bright red hakama with either a white or a red nagajuban (under kimono) and a white kimono or haori. The uniform tunic usually has a slash or a gusset at the shoulder to reveal part of the garment beneath. The sleeves are usually often shown as being triangular in shape rather than the normal squared sleeve seen in Japanese clothing. These sleeves also have 14 stiches running near the hem of the sleeve, one for each of the Shinto high gods or kami.
Plus Size Cotton Yukata
A Japanese garment, a casual summer kimono usually made of cotton. People wearing yukata are a common sight in Japan at fireworks displays, bon-odori festivals, and other summer events. The yukata is also frequently worn after bathing at traditional Japanese inns. Though their use is not limited to after-bath wear, yukata literally means bath(ing) clothes.
Imperial Hunter Uniform
This uniform is actually very similar to the Shinto uniforms with the exception of color. The sleeves have a slit or a gusset at the shoulder showing the garment beneath. There are ribbons woven along the hem of a large triangular shaped sleeve. These can be pulled to close the sleeve and let it be used as a pocket or a pouch. Rather than the legs of the pants flowing loosely like a regular pair of hakama, these are gathered at the ankle.
Our cotton courtesan outfit consists of 5 pieces. There is a short nagajuban, a cotton haori and a pair of hakama as with a three piece samurai set. The two additional pieces are a printed Chihaya and an obi. The Chihaya is a vest worn over the rest of the outfit that is split up both sides. An obi is worn over the Chihaya and tied at the back. .
Courtsean Outfit - Back View
Magatama are curved beads which first appeared in Japan during the Jōmon period. The most important magatama is the Yasakani no Magatama, which is part of the Imperial Regalia of Japan, added some time around the Heian period. The Yasakani no Magatama stands for benevolence, and is one of the three items used in the ceremony of imperial ascension. In Japanese mythology, the jewels, along with the mirror, were hung on the tree outside of Amaterasu's cave (where she had hidden) to lure her out. It is believed to be a necklace composed of jade magatama stones instead of a solitary gem as depicted in popular culture. It is believed to be enshrined in Tokyo, in the Japanese Imperial Palace. Examples of this necklace are seen in many anime.
